Has anyone had success building an MCP client that uses local models? Currently seeing poor performance with every local model with tool calling I’ve tried. It works fine as soon as I switch out to GPT 4o etc.

I built a MCP server for Kit I can now use Claude or Chat GPT to analyze my broadcasts, build smart segments and more. It has access to all the Kit API endpoints, and it’s been surprising to see how it will intelligently chain api calls together to get a task done.

I felt it was kind of funny and also cool that once Claude realized this was a $0.10 per request MCP tool that simply added two numbers together, it tried to save me from paying by performing the addition without the tool.
