I really wish the world would let go of the myth that truly talented, visionary, passionate people are all 24/7 laser-focused on their work to the detriment of every other aspect of life and their physical and mental well-being.

I really feel story telling is a solid 50% of my job. The rest is empowering the characters and learning their backstory so I can do their story justice. Love the way Nathan Baugh lays this out and will definitely apply it!

I love this initiative. My workplace is SUPER supportive of both my husband and I as new parents, but if they weren’t I would surely be leaving (them or the workforce entirely). This helps empowers women to get what they need. #empoweringwomen #workingmama

*when the villain in the movie has a PhD* Viewers without a PhD: Ah, they are just saying he’s a smart villain. Makes sense. Viewers with a PhD: Ah, grad school and academia drove him to madness. Makes sense.

In academia we are having hard time getting and retaining the best people, simply because industry pays them more and gives them better conditions, and this is a worldwide issue. Then, shouldn't we improve the salary and working conditions in academia instead of just complaining?

Millennial Problem: what to do with the extra set of Harry Potter books between you and your partner? Or are you normal and capable of parting with one of them?

What matters is always the discovery, not who made the discovery. It's not that the scientist doesn't matter but the science must always come first.
