E2E IS privacy. The U.K. Gov is basically asking E2E services be weakened. This would place the U.K. in a very exclusive club of countries. None of which are aspirational for privacy & human rights. This is a fight infosec has to have. Don’t be quiet on this. Too much is at stake

1/ On 7 April 2018, Douma became the site of one many horrific chemical weapon attacks carried out by Assad and his allies. In Douma, Syrian forces used toxic chlorine gas on civilians. At least 43 people died, many more were affected.

2/ Last year, the OPCW’s IIT found that there were reasonable grounds to believe that SAAF “Tiger Forces” dropped two cylinders of chlorine gas on two apartment buildings, targeting a civilian area.

3/ Chemical weapons have long been used by Assad to break the will of the people. Douma, scarred by that day, has not known freedom since.

4/ Justice is not just about punishment—it’s about giving survivors and families the opportunity to be heard and to be recognised, its the least that they deserve. It’s about holding perpetrators accountable, ensuring these crimes are not forgotten.

5/ Douma may have been broken in April 2018, but it has not been forgotten. Perhaps now, it can be free once again.
