Danylo Khudya was only 17 when he, along with his mom&dad, were killed by Russia in an attack on Kyiv yday. The only survivor is his baby sister, who’s in hospital now. His friends, a group of teenagers, had been waiting for 12 hours next to the rubble hoping he would make it.

No chance this would speed things up. If anything, Witkoff’s visits have only made the situation more dire for Ukrainians, emboldening Russia, giving it green light to bombard Ukraine as much as they want. Ukraine won’t give up Crimea, won’t make the kind of deal Trump wants.

Only today have rescue operations been completed at the site of one of Russia’s strikes on Ukraine on April 24. On that day, in Kyiv, the Russians, unfortunately, killed 12 of our people and nearly 90 people were injured. More than 30 people remain hospitalized, including those

This is what is happening. The U.S. wants Ukraine to sign all three mineral deals, not one, today or else. (Yes, there are 3!). But this is legally impossible. The courts will annul 2 out of 3 deals later. Yet, the U.S. side insists. Details: 1/

The US and Ukraine reached a deal over access to Ukraine’s natural resources Wednesday, a move that Kyiv sought to solidify President Donald Trump’s backing in ceasefire talks with Russia bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Putin de facto rejects idea of 30-day Russia-Ukraine ceasefire. Instead, he proposes to begin direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul next Thursday on 15 May. “Purpose [of talks] is to eliminate the root causes of the conflict”, says Putin. By root causes RU means free Ukraine.

Even the Prime Minister of New Zealand gets it. As President Trump has repeatedly said, stop the killing!! An unconditional 30 day ceasefire first and, during it, move into comprehensive peace discussions. Not the other way around.

I have just heard President Trump's statement. Very important words. I supported President Donald J. Trump idea of a full and unconditional ceasefire — long enough to provide the foundation for diplomacy. And we want it, we are ready to uphold silence on our end. I supported President Trump

Worth remembering: Medinsky was born in Ukraine. In Smila, Cherkasy oblast, to be precise. In Ukraine’s heartland. Let’s not forget, Dmitriev was born in Kyiv. Another reason why Putin believes there’s no such nation as Ukrainians.

The Russian delegation in Istanbul made sure they came with peace. Former Ukraine’s UN envoy who was present at the talks subtly confirms Medinsky’s blackmail.

Back to square one. Trump abandons his own ceasefire demands without a whimper. US peace proposal presented in Paris cast aside. No hint whatsoever of pressure on Russia to soften draconian demands. Dangles a giant carrot (trade, implicitly end to sanctions) but offers no stick.

In his phone call with Trump Putin’s shown he has no interest in immediate ceasefire. Meanwhile, Trump acts like he doesn’t realize dragging this sort of conversation forever only prolongs the war and gives Russia time it so desperately needs to prepare for its summer offensive.

Trump thinks he “struck a deal” with Putin. He doesn’t realize that KGB men don’t make deals. They don’t bargain, because they don’t take steps back. For them, “negotiations” mean making the other side believe that a compromise has been reached, and that it’s time to retreat.

In order to achieve peace, we need to put more pressure on Russia, not less. More on what led me to resign as Ambassador to Ukraine in the The Philadelphia Inquirer inquirer.com/opinion/bridge…

Putin is showing the world tonight that he clearly wants peace. That’s why he started the war in the first place, obviously.
