Algorithms belonging to users with eating disorders send proportionally more videos about physical appearance (e.g. #makeuptips), dieting (e.g. #cleaneating), and exercise (e.g. #workout). Their algorithms also send them more toxic, pro-eating disorder videos (e.g. #thinspire).

Awesome study. It is alarming that algorithms send this content to people with ED’s, but also has a (potentially) positive side as algorithms could help us locate people at risk of ED, and send supportive content as well/instead.

I wanted to do a unique episode with this one that could help any man struggling with an ED or a loved one supporting a man but doesn't know what to do. I can think of no better men to do that than Danny Bowman & George from MyoMinds. We need more positive recovery stories!
