Following some convective ice and snow pellet showers yesterday afternoon, the summit team enjoyed an incredible sunset. Relatively calm winds and warm temperatures were very welcome after several days of wintry and foggy weather!

Summit staff saw a clear and sunny start to the day, but an approaching system had high clouds spreading through by the afternoon. After a couple of gorgeous spring days, rainy weather will return on Thursday. For more information, check out the Higher Summits Forecast

Frosty the snowman admired the winter wonderland conditions at the summit on Tuesday, when 6 inches of snow still remained. Rainfall and warm temperatures have since dwindled the snowpack, with more rain coming for this weekend.

Heads up, aurora chasers!!! A severe geomagnetic storm could give many a good view of the northern lights Sunday night, that is if the clouds cooperate. Don’t worry if you don’t get a glimpse of it Sunday night, there may be another shot to see the northern lights Monday night.
