Ian No intention to receive, pure selfless run that he knows will help Palmer get stronger access to shooting Their relationship this szn is gonna be silly; Kane ~ Son vibes. The year of duos.

Sean Exactly. They didn't have a finishing problem. They had a creativity problem. Because they play risk adverse football. Their entire game plan is to get to 1-0, with either Saka or Odegaard conjuring something - or a set piece, and then park the bus and aim to counter.

Positioning Kerkez in the first line of build-up limits his offensive output and forces one of the central midfielders out of the team. By using Szoboszlai's passing range in the first line, the full-backs can be maximized IP while improving the OOP at the same time.

Manchester City will struggle this season if they use full-backs as their primary width holders. Pep wants to force the opposition into a low block. To create chances, wide players must cross or dribble into the box from static situations. Äit-Nouri, Nunes (and Livramento) can't

Manchester City's possible line-up against Wolves in my preferred positioning. Nouri high-inside. Nunes in the last line to make use of his recovery speed in transition as well as his passing. Marmoush outside is not optimal. He needs to be central to run in behind and shoot.

Nearly €3B spent by PL clubs this summer. UEFA still sits idle. If anything pushes clubs toward the Super League, it’s this imbalance, and then they'll start talking about saving football and smaller clubs while they watch Chelsea buying players & clubs through BlueCo like it's

There is no way around Rico Lewis for Manchester City this season. 1. Rico is one of the best players between the lines in possession. 2. The other right-backs contribute little both with and without the ball. The team needed a defensive left-back to balance his traits. Like Ake

Serie A is the best league to study solutions against man-to-man OOP setups. Coaches like Thiago Motta, Antonio Conte or Simone Inzaghi have set the path: Midfielders wide to drag markers, opening central lanes to forwards, CBs stepping in to exploit the space...🔻

Matt Russell Not a fan of this personally, specially when the team loses the ball. If he’s indeed in midfield, I think Kompany has given him the best role as wide-half in a back 3. Nagelsmann should follow that also.

Michael Cox I don’t understand why it’s only done at kick offs. If you think that this will be effective then why not do it any time you have possession in your own half or any time you have possession but are under pressure?

But Maresca probably didn’t change the system earlier because Fofana wouldn’t be comfortable in those midfield positions, so he waits until half time for James to come on Then he moves to a 2-2-5-1, gives us a 2v1 at the back, 5v4 in midfield, & keeps the 6v5 on the last line

I told you a long time ago: Francesco Farioli is one of the best coaches in the world. He’s a top defensive coach and one of those men who you call when you want to refound the principles of a club and build a project that reaches the very top level one day.

Interesting quote from Arne Slot after Crystal Palace game: “The game of football, especially in England, has changed almost to a set piece game. I was watching Brentford against Man United, and every ball that goes out was a long throw.”

The “Salah gamble” in rest attack is to have him high and wide to threaten Chelsea in transition. LFC found lots of joy doing this last season, which was a risk worth taking. With Cucurella higher LFC had numerous chances in transition with Salah being the main focal point as

Adeyemi is such a frustrating player. He’s qualities are very hard to fit in most of tactical schemes, since he doesnt have any playmaking abilities in his game. But his 1v1 ability is also mostly about his pace so needs alot of space ahead of him too. I see him working mostly
