The first govt-chartered British Airways flight from Peru has landed safely back in the UK. We are working urgently with Peruvian authorities to deliver more flights in the coming days.

Citizens from across the UK find themselves stranded abroad with no way to return home. While these issues are complex, we cannot leave our citizens alone. The UK government must take action urgently to bring them home. I've written to the UK government on this very issue.

It's a dreadful, worrying situation for all the British tourists in South Africa. UK Government need to send empty planes over and bring them all home urgently.
