We need mirrors in our books. Our students don’t see themselves in the “classics.” We need to move away from what we’ve always taught to using books that engage readers. Diverse books should be filling the shelves of our classroom libraries.

Hearing misconceptions about workshop. If you start teaching & after a bit say-we are moving into workshop time-or are trying to ‘fit in’ workshop, let’s clear up the misunderstanding. Workshop is the structure. Minute kids walk in, they are in the workshop.
