9 years ago I had the time of my life working as an intern at the JYF Museums. This weekend I got to come back and show my family my old stomping grounds and relive some of my favorite moments. Shout out to my parents for surviving another trip to a historic location with me🤠

4 planes, 4 gates, 6 delays, 2 terminals, and 6+ hours after I was supposed to be home and I’m still in an airport— might as well use this time to continue prepping for my session with Humble ISD Social Studies about using AI in the classroom!

AI in education is the new frontier and it can be our biggest enemy or one of our best friends! (And Winnie agrees!) Eager to put together this professional development to help teachers feel a little less intimidated by this new tool!☺️

What better way to demonstrate the significance of yearbooks than looking at the past! Today in yearbook we drew inspiration from my late grandmother’s (MaryEllen Swindler) yearbooks from the 1950s-1960s. A world so different from our own, but yet so powerful of a time capsule!

8th Grade got the ball rolling today with Explore Before Explain. Analyzing primary sources and teaching a partner about their observations and inferences was a great way to kick off our first unit!

It’s been a busy week in US History as we used a grab bag to discover and analyze the characteristics of each colonial region and then took part in a simulation to understand why colonies developed their own self governments- DOING history every day!

Our 6th grade team launched our new unit today over Human-Environment Interaction as a case study over Hurricane Katrina and examine how humans and the environment shape each other. Students explored images and maps to launch their thinking into this new unit #DoingSocialStudies
