A1: In 2nd grade our goal for basic addition and subtraction facts is for them to be automatic. #CISDchat

A2: I notice the progression of mastery. I wonder the impact this would have as an introduction, to show learners a road map of the learning journey! #CISDchat

A3: I see my learners in the counting phase using their fingers or manipulatives! #cisdchat

A4: I see learners using the making 10 strategy to add 4+6=10 plus one more or 7+3=10 plus one more. #cisdchat

A5: It’s all about making it fun and engaging! Giving learners opportunities to play games that involve practicing strategies and repetition will help make it stick. I have also found that my kids LOVE making drawings to represent their reasoning. #cisdchat

A6: Goal time! My favorite resource right now is Reflex math. I’ve never seen my learners more excited to practice addition and subtraction facts. #cisdchat

A2: Group work is more of working together to produce an end product or result. I view collaboration more as brainstorming and working towards a common goal. My team collaborates to produce some pretty fantastic learning opportunities for our second graders!#CISDchat #dreamteam

A3: I start each school year by focusing on leadership skills that involve collaboration and communication to setup my learners for success in their future collaboration opportunities. #cisdchat

A4: Communication and conflict resolution skills are what I focus on with my second graders. Without these crucial skills, they can’t get very far! #cisdchat

A6: Before I was an educator, I worked in the corporate world where Monday morning staff meetings existed. Here, my team and I shared our to-do lists for the week and collaborated the best approach to tackling those lists. Collaboration is a life skill! #cisdchat

A7: I will plan with my Leader in Me action team as we are working on revamping our school wide events for next school year to give our learners more voice in these events. It will be a true collaboration experience working with fellow educators and learners! #cisdchat
