Down into Ember Furr Elementary School 5th graders went today for our end of novel classroom room transformation! There were real blackouts, secret messages AND circuits to fix! Luckily they found the exit just in time!

Glimpses of summer school! ☀️😎🍉 -student created anchor charts to synthesize their learning -multiple paragraph outline work to help writing about reading -a strong novel that gets them inspired to read on their own!

Deep into informational texts and writing about reading 🔥🔥🔥 It may be summer school, but these 5th graders are HARD at work!

I looked at my STAAR scores today after summer school and then got home and proceeded to do a 3 hour data dive! I’m really proud of them! They worked hard for this! I also took a 4 hour nap after and I think it was because the stress of waiting was over!

THIS is the reason I teach! Authentic work that is meaningful for readers and writers cannot be beat. Students read a nonfiction book on a topic of choice and took notes using boxes & bullets. Then, they completed an MPO outline! The result? A well written essay! 🥰📝📖📚
