Bosses who insult and intimidate don't get results. They leave people scarred. Data: when NBA players have abusive coaches, they play more poorly for the rest of their careers—and commit more technical fouls. Weak leaders make people weaker. Strong leaders make people stronger.

I was the teacher that enforced this rule and then tried to find something to support why it would ever have been a rule and found nothing. I would argue, for some kids, having their hats or hoods on is more comfortable and could help them learn.

The best antidote to burnout is not teaching people coping skills to handle stress. It's redesigning work to reduce stress. The cure for exhaustion is removing overwhelming demands and the norm of self-sacrifice. Healthy workplaces value well-being as much as performance.
