As follow up to Secret Path Week, today Oak Creek PS students and staff will be participating in a Walk for Wenjack and we’ve set the goal of 600kms (or 2400 laps of the field). Downie Wenjack Fund
Today our owls are working together to walk 600km in memory of Chanie Wenjack, who attempted to walk the same distance home after escaping from a residential school. Sadly, Chanie did not survive his journey, so we will finish it for him 💜 #dosomething Oak Creek PS Waterloo Region DSB
🏳️🌈Pride is everywhere🏳️🌈 love to see students finding creative ways to express themselves at school and taking this as a win that at least one student felt safe enough to wear their rainbow colours proudly #visibility #equity #inclusion Oak Creek PS Waterloo Region DSB
3A used their knowledge of stable structures to explore different ways of building the tallest tower possible. We combined our strategies and worked together as a class to construct the ultimate tower and made math connections to our patterning unit too! Oak Creek PS Waterloo Region DSB #STEM
Someone on our Oak Creek PS team took the time to set up this awesome shoutout board to celebrate our wins and champion each other; I can’t wait to see this full of positive and uplifting notes! #OCProud #nottakingcredit #justreallyimpressed #HOOT #HOOT
Treaties, treaty rights and treaty relationships are an integral part of reconciliation work. Treaties Recognition Week has been designated by the Ontario Government to increase education and awareness, and as part of the TRC Calls to Action. 🧵1/3
Our first ever Oak Creek PS Arts Showcase was a huge success! From the visual art installation to the performers on stage, owls had some powerful messages to share with us last night and I certainly heard them loud and clear. Did you? #RaiseYourVoice
Back in March 3A visited the White Owl Sugar Bush to learn about Maple Syrup. We had the opportunity to hear from indigenous voices and learn about their ways of knowing in the bush. We also enjoyed a live performance from the one and only Sean McCammon! Thank you Outdoor Ed 🍁
Swim to Survive was a huge success in 3A. We are so thankful for our amazing instructors who helped us conquer our fears and learn to swim. Here are just a few of the many core memories made on our last day in the pool. Oak Creek PS Waterloo Region DSB #swimtosurvive
Today is 🌈PRIDE DAY Oak Creek PS and our GSA worked hard on these flags to help educate others on the different ways that we can experience love towards ourselves and others. Today is all about practicing equity, acceptance, and inclusion of ALL identities Waterloo Region DSB #PRIDE 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
