My Superintendent stopped by this morning right as we were kicking off our daily crew zoom dance party while we wait for all the students to log on! I truly commend Mark Martin, Ed.D. he has done a fantastic job at starting our school year off right! Great second day of schoolπŸ₯°

Not sure most people understand the number of high quality and hard working teachers who are truly on the verge of breakdowns due to being overworked and overwhelmed this school year.

Schools had SEL when I was a kid. It was known as daily recess, physical education, art , music, creating plays in class, working on projects instead of worksheets, longer lunches, & even nature walks. This is how we grew academically as well as socially & emotionally.

I worry about the validity of formal evaluations right now. How can anyone accurately assess teachers w/ all the variables associated w/ learning that are beyond their control. The focus should be on what do you need & how can we support you during these unprecedented times.

Engagement is EVERYTHING when you are virtual. I focus on building relationships and joy in my zoom lessons and it works. Children and families are happy and engaged. Grateful for messages like this, especially this year! πŸ₯°πŸ₯³

I love getting compared to a children's TV show character πŸ˜‚ I always tell people that I feel like teaching is kinda like being an actor (especially virtually). You've got to turn up the energy and enthusiasm and help students be excited about the content.

It’s long past time we pay teachers what they deserve. The work they do is of extreme national importance β€” and their salaries should reflect that.

If students aren't in school, then teachers should be able to teach from home. 42% of people work from home, yet teachers are expected to go to an empty school to teach? School districts, trust your professionals!

Check out this video my students and I made! They have so many incredible dreams. My dream for them is that they work hard and make them all come true!

So today on zoom we were learning about Women’s history month. Students were sharing about women that they find inspiring. And one of my little third graders said β€œYou Ms.Hill! You’re amazing” πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯° I could have cried right there on zoom ❀️ love my students even from a distance.

Virtual students need to be recognized for the incredibly hard work they are doing. I cannot imagine living through what they are. And my students are excelling. They are resilient, smart, and enthusiastic. And that is something to celebrate πŸŽ‰

This right here is why I became a teacher. Everyday I get the opportunity to wake up and make real lasting impacts on students lives. β€œPeople will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”
