Proof that cyclists are just ordinary people who happen to ride a bike

Wow!! Thank you BCP Council for coming up with a compromise. I can't quite believe this may actually happen 🤞 bcpcouncil.gov.uk/news-hub/news-…

Quite balanced reporting from the BBC compared to the Echo. For anyone not local this is a set of gate near Keyhole Bridge. Closing them is a good alternative to closing the bridge and a positive suggestion from our new council bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

This is a great alternative to closing Keyhole Bridge. It protects Poole Park and makes it safer for walkers, wheelers and cyclists. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share widely so the council see how much support there is for this haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/pooleparkaccess

Don't forget to complete the survey - a great way of creating a safe route through Keyhole Bridge while also protecting our beautiful park from rat-running drivers haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/pooleparkaccess

Protestors who want to keep Poole Park as a rat run and don't want a safer and healthier place for families with children. Sadly the average age must be over 70 (I am myself before I'm accused of being ageist). Parks should be about the future, not about hanging on to the past

This is the road in Poole Park that's been used by drivers as a short cut. Closing just one entrance stops this but maintains vehicle access and parking for park users. If you want to find out more and have your say in the consultation the details are here haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/pooleparkaccess

Can’t understand why this is so controversial. Disinformation being spread, protestors waving placards, scaremongering all round. The park is still open, no one‘s being denied access and it’s a trial. A lot of those against it clearly haven’t read this information 🤷‍♀️

Someone asked me why I look at Twitter. It's to cheer me up after looking at FB, and reminds me there are decent people in the world

Priceless discussion on my local NextDoor at the moment about this scheme to remove a rat run in a park. Drivers discussing how they only ever drive 'gently' through the park. How can you drive 'gently' in a 2 ton metal box? 🤦‍♀️ haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/pooleparkaccess

We'll be in court soon for our legal challenge against the cuts to active travel funding. Any support you can give before that would be very much appreciated! crowdjustice.com/case/stop-the-…

Trial closure to stop vehicles using Poole Park as a short cut. The survey closes on Tuesday so not much time left. It's a qualitative survey so what you say in the comments sections really counts. Make the most of it! haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/pooleparkaccess

Come on Bournemouth Echo this will get lots of interest and comments from readers who claim no one wants active travel improvements. How about doing a feature on these findings and reminding said readers they don't actually speak for the majority?

For anyone who hasn't seen the report on the Poole Park gate closure you can find it here democracy.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/documents/g591… Pg 9-19 for the exec summary. In their submission LPPA group acknowledge that the park has been used as a rat run and suggest traffic calming is the solution.

Conservatives now saying they’ll bring back national service. To me that smacks of desperation but I’ve a horrible feeling some of their party will think it’s a great idea 🙄

Cycling Gran (@mrss_poole) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Political parties have been noticeably quiet regarding how they'll improve things for those of us who walk, wheel or cycle, so if you'd like to give your local candidates a nudge Cycling UK have provided an easy way to do it. Only takes a few minutes action.cyclinguk.org/page/150753/ac…

The problem is this damage can't be undone, no matter which party is elected. The best we can hope for is to stop the rot and maybe one day we'll be in a position to start to rebuild our public services
