7th grade students in Mrs. Grenter and Mr. Clarke's class, got to work on an interdisciplinary project that culminated in a STEM challenge! Students learned about density and ancient civilization boat design and were challenged to create their own Sphero powered boats!

#7Thunder had a very exciting day Friday! Thanks to #MTEF we launched what will be a 6-month long interdisciplinary project based on the novel #TheMartian. Students competed in their first challenges as Martian Mission Groups - Simon Says and a Lander STEM Challenge. #PBL MTwp Middle School

#7Thunder received 1,000 new class pets! We set up our #vermicomposting system for #TheMartian Project. While Mark Watney used a different kind of fertilizer (💩) to grow his potatoes, we’ll be using worm castings for our potato gardens here at MTwp Middle School! [Funding provided by MTEF]

Today the MTwp Middle School Service Club volunteered at the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County. Students cleaned supplies, built pet carriers, and sorted food donations.

Today #7Thunder scientists created their own ecosystems for our Ecology Unit. Students will recording observations for about two weeks and then will carry out a human impact on the ecosystem to see how the biotic and abiotic factors inside respond. #InquiryBasedLearning
