The best advice my first boss ever gave me: "If you want to separate yourself, master the details most folks ignore. Follow up without being asked, spell people's names correctly, and––for the love of God––take notes."

A good point made here by Amanda. If an athlete deal with an associated entity isn’t cleared by Deloitte the athlete can still move forward with deal. And it’s then up to schools/NCAA/the new enforcement entity to say they’re ineligible. Which is when lawsuits will start.

Two important points raised here. 1. Some female athletes will suffer large financial harm under the House settlement terms. Many will almost certainly be paid much less than now because of the salary cap & collective/booster limits. Won’t be much $ left after paying men.

Schools will be operating with roughly a $20.5 million rev-share salary cap in Year 1. For football, that's expected to be $13 to $16 million. Schools hope to circumvent that with NIL payments, which will have to be put through the NIL Go clearinghouse. Expect lawsuits.

The College Sports Commission issued a memo to DI ADs on Wednesday to further offer guidance on NIL deals. The memo, obtained by Yahoo Sports, notes that most deals that have not been cleared do not meet the "valid business purpose" definition - many of those from collectives.

This is one of the real contracts offered to an athlete that I have students review in my NIL classes. It's not predatory, it's just super basic and vague.
