The amazing job that Cignetti has done at Indiana can’t be stated strongly enough. No team outside of the top 15 in the talent composite rankings has even come close to winning a natty and only one outside of the top 6 has won one (Michigan).

Everyone talks about how UGA only beat FSU by 60 because all of FSU’s starters sat out (which is true). What they don’t talk about is how UGA’s starters didn’t sit out. It shows the competitive difference between the two programs and now we’re seeing that Notre Dame probably

Once again, the problem with the "but pro sports take all division winners" argument is that the disparity in talent between the best and worst in pro sports is very minimal. The gap between the top and middle of the FBS is MASSIVE. The difference between the best and worst

Adding to this, if you're arguing that G5 teams shouldn't be included in the playoff, you're being an idiot. There are 136 FBS teams and every team should have an opportunity to compete for a championship. My argument is that you should earn your way in with one of the 12 best

Two things regarding this: 1. BYU should have been even under the current playoff structure. 2. This is correct. The auto-bid system leads to more deserving teams like BYU, ND, and Vandy being leap-frogged by less accomplished teams.

I haven't read the article yet, and maybe Ross covers this in it, but this feels like the end of non-revenue sports. What do you guys think?

My math side loves this question. There is approximately a 14% chance that atleast one of those teams wins. There is roughly 0.5% chance that both teams win.

Strength of record is a measure of the difficulty of achieving your record relative to how tough your schedule. More specifically, it’s a measure of how β€œan average top 25 team” would do against your schedule. Strength of schedule is just a measure of how hard your schedule

Yeah, that’s a pretty ridiculous statement from Bud. It’s frustrating how everything gets taken to extremes. The reality is that no G5 team is truly deserving of a top-12 spot this season. Boise was worthy of a playoff bid last year, but this season the auto-bid system pushed in
