My 8 y.o. loudly ask "Mom, is everyone in this zoom meeting epidemiologist?" I reply "no, some are obstetricians and gynecologists." She replied "I wonder if they knew the could have been epidemiologists instead?" The zoom crowd went wild. #epitwitter #MedTwitter #workingfromhome

This is the Eurasian wryneck. what you are looking at is it’s ability to mimic a forest snake when necessary. These movements once seemed otherworldly and is where the word jinx originates, sadly they endured much cruelty in superstition/witchcraft before mimicry was understood

We had around 165 people from more than 20 countries login to listen to our first International Seminar from Joey Tanney. It was a very interesting talk on endophytes in Canada, naming them and using them to combat pests and pathogens. We can't wait for the next one! #IYPH2020

Today was the first time in two years that I have given a lecture in-person at a conference. Thank you #SASPP2022 for the opportunity to share our story about hte fungi in the Botryosphaeriaceae that are associated with a native tree species in South Africa.

If you can't get a keynote, deliver two talks back to back. Lisa Rothmann presents two cool talks, back to back, on Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and its rising prevalence in SAs sunflower fields. #SASPP2022 FABI Future Africa Platform

And now, "in front of a live studio audience" at #SASPP2022- Darryl Herron (Darryl Herron) 🤩 How can we assess the risk of a pathogen if we don't have a standardized assay? It's difficult... So Darryl made one, nbd.. 🤯

Not to criticise colleagues, but when isolates (e.g. fungal) forms a polytomy with a reference strain, instead of a monophyletic group, it does not mean that they are the same species as the reference strain. Just a friendly reminder …
