While welcoming stakeholders to the training, Moses Byakagaba mentioned that the overall objective of the training is to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to meaningfully contribute to youth-inclusive policy development and economic empowerment efforts.

Day 2 has kicked off with a session on Youth Participation in Governance. Mr. Patrick Olwor, the Community Development Officer highlighted the youth’s role in advocacy and accountability, “You’re the ones to follow up and hold leaders accountable through participation” he urged.

The facilitator, Mr. Patrick unpacked Transformational Leadership by emphasizing the power of self-reflection and purpose. Leaders must understand their “why”, their motivation before guiding others. A clear, actionable vision helps teams connect their efforts to a larger goal.

Adaptive communication was spotlighted as a key skill. The facilitator shared how effective leaders must adjust their tone, language, and approach to different contexts, cultures, and individuals. This adaptability helps build inclusive spaces where every team member feels heard.

He welcomed Faraja Africa Foundation together with the consortium partners Advance Afrika and Open Space Centre and pledged the district’s full commitment to supporting meaningful youth participation in leadership and policy-making.
