RE the Monbiot discourse: it is certainly true that a left project that seeks to win 40%+ will need the support of middle class liberals. HOWEVER, that project should not take advice from people who have sided with the Labour Right at critical moments (e.g. 2020 leadership race)

Riddle me this: the U.K. govt says it won’t establish hard border checks on the island of Ireland. But it passes the Nationality & Borders Bill. Which forces non-Irish EU citizens living in the Republic to apply to cross the border on the island. But all without a border check?!
