I feel the luckiest bc I get to teach a dual-credit Children's Literature class to seniors. I've borrowed a stack of books through interlibrary loan (public libraries are amazing!). Of course, I test out the books my 3 yr old. These are her current favorites--they're delightful!

Creating an assessment for my Film Literature class today on cinematography elements and I am getting to explore new question types on Edulastic โžก๏ธ Pear Assessment that I haven't used before, which is very fun! So thankful for #edtech tools that have so much flexibility!

This so much! Those opportunities need to be both formal & informal. My best class cultures were where I regularly had sts telling me what worked/didn't work w/o prompting bc it had just become part of our class conversations. My most helpful evaluations are often from sts!

When you tell your students that your socks lack the prerequisite silliness required on a spirit day and a student says, "I got you, Dr. P." My students are the best!

In 1st grade, my teacher Miss Baker, knowing I wanted a harder book to read, let me choose a chapter book from her library. Thus, Ramona Quimby became my BFF that year. So thankful for Beverly Cleary's stories; they began a lifelong love of reading. So sad to hear of her passing.

This. Realizing early on in my career that I was the one who was responsible for my students learning changed my classroom...and so much for the better. It has forced me to evaluate my weaknesses, ask my students what doesn't work, and figure out what I need to change.

I was excited to learn more about this! My daughters love the picture book Separate is Never Equal. Such an important part of our history!

This so much. Especially that last part about vulnerability. Figuring out how to make that work in a classroom has helped me connect with students. It's powerful and could have a huge impact in shaping the future world we all get to share.

This is so true. And over the years I've gotten better at teaching students how to use that modeling to improve their own writing. So many students tell me how much it helps them make sense of how to write!

In my house, we just finished this book & my girls (& I) loved it! It's a lovely chapter book with just the right amount of pictures. It tells the story of a young girl who lives in Nigeria. I love when books enable my girls to enter into new worlds & understand others better!

So true! I'm indebted to an AP English group at the beginning of my career for teaching me strategies to do this. Reading/writing is sometimes assigned rather than taught & that's due to how teachers are trained. That was definitely my experience as a HS student. Needs to change.

I really wish time was built into our year to visit other teachers' classrooms! Whenever I have been able to do this, the time has been a gift!

Michigan Governor Debate Fact Check: Tudor Dixon said that schools were shut down for two years under Whitmer. This is untrue. Whitmer's order lasted for just the second half of the 2019-20 school year.
