MN Bumble Bee Atlas volunteer found a bumble bee species that hasn't been documented in MN since 1940. Not during his official survey, but we're still all very excited. Say hello to Bombus melanopygus, the black-tailed bumble bee.

Bumble bee survey season is finally underway! One of our lovely Atlas volunteers found Bombus melanopygus, the black tailed bumble bee, up in Northeast Minnesota. Bombus melanopygus has just been confirmed here in Minnesota!
