Great talk from Rasha K Soliman - رشا قدري سليمان & colleagues BAAL2023York on developing vocab profiles for beginner #Arabic. Main challenge is ensuring the range of lang varieties is represented. Freq lists only available for standard Arabic. Word simplicity & commonality are important criteria

MultilingProfiler proved invaluable for analysing GCSE vocabulary in written texts against exam board word lists. It's brilliant for ensuring teaching materials are both comprehensible and curriculum-aligned.

I recently attended a fascinating workshop at the 5th International Symposium on Applied Linguistics #ALR2024, delivered by Natalie Finlayson from the University of York and @lpedagogy. The session explored innovative ways to combine AI and vocabulary profiling in language teaching
