Remembering Sgt Ian McKay who led a night assault by 3PARA on an enemy machine gun post at Mount Longdon on 11th/12th June 1982. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions. He was 29. #Falklands ⁦3 PARA⁩ ⁦TheParachuteRegiment⁩ ⁦The Parachute Regimental Association⁩ 🙏🏻

The last survivors of the Battle of Waterloo. Photographed 65 years after the battle at London’s Royal Hospital in Chelsea in June 1880. Amazingly, John McKay was born aboard HMS Victory in 1785.

Wherever I travel if there’s a Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery ( Commonwealth War Graves ) I try to visit. This cemetery for 14 souls from WW2 is in the Faroe Islands who to this day are appreciative that British troops occupied their islands in 1940 to save them from German occupation….
