Mid-Post Cross Step The objective is to get your defender to anticipate a post up. Instead, look to step across their frame and beat their foot.

Dead Leg Most of the time when you go between the legs, you skip. But if your defender is engaged at your hip, you do not have space to skip. This is a great option in those situations.

We’ve partnered with hundreds of youth basketball programs over the years… And the biggest thing we hear from directors? They do a coaches clinic at the start of the year… And that’s it. We can help! 🧵

Not getting everything you want (when you want it) can be one of the best things that ever happens to you. It forces a choice: Do you pout? Or do you push forward? Let’s talk about how that applies to basketball development:

“If you’re always fast, you’re slow.” Change of pace is difficult to guard because it’s hard to anticipate. Mick Wherley does an excellent job closing out this segment by putting players in a position where they have to be creative.

2 Man Game Situations: 1. Angles are important. We want to be able to put pressure on the rim, not half court. 2. The same principles apply whether you are in a ball screen, DHO or a pin down.

We don’t always play with limitations But playing with a short shot clock is a great way to get players to make decisions quickly.

The defense anticipates based on your established rhythm. A Heavy Step is a disruption of that rhythm, which difficult makes it difficult for a defender to anticipate. 🗣️ @mjwherley

Our focus here is on our balance. In order to be slow in a cross step, you need to remain on balance. Hopping in place, while keeping your toe down, is a great way to get players to focus on their balance.
