Stop the video and tell me if you can locate the disk (I bet you can't). When even your eyes cannot identify cells in a still image, improving the segmentation method is pointless. A better approach is to use temporal information from previous frames and next frames.

Paper out: Gene encoded nanoparticles (GEMs) with 180 GFPs are cool tools to track in cells. GEMs reveal biophysical basis of infection, too. Using GPI-anchored nanobody receptors over 6 logs of affinity shows that adhesion energy alone explains uptake! rdcu.be/dFddO

Very excited to share that our DELiVR method is now open access published @NatureMethods. We created a simple, brain-wide cell analysis deep learning tool, no coding needed! Fiji Plugin makes it accessible to all. nature.com/articles/s4159… by Doris Kaltenecker Rami @moritz_negwer

Ever wonder if kinetics are really important, or if you just need thermodynamics? Here's a great example of where kinetics are key! We show that accounting for dynamics that occur during single molecule FRET experiments (which we call time-averaging) is often critical for

#AIRR microscopy, the final touch: Real-time multi-angle projections! -> Get ultra-fast 2D projections of 3D objects of any refractive index, with a light-sheet microscope that uses a single AIR objective at the sample! Crazy!

Thermal expansion -> a typical problem in time-lapse microscopy at high resolution. Here I measure the axial shift of the focal plane of a Nikon 40x0.95 air objective at ~1.6um/K, or about ~1.5x the depth of field per degree C: github.com/amsikking/Niko…

This corresponds closely with the O2-O3 'cross brace' solution from Julia Lazzari-Dean. Based on the above data, reversing one of the POLARIS-K2T mounts will neutralize their thermal effect, leaving just the aluminum cross brace and an ~exact cancelation: x.com/JLazzariDean/s…
