I’m doing it! I’ve created an Amazon wish list. With so many cuts to education, and so many needs.. I just can’t pay for it all myself. This is truly a ‘wish’ list. I will be grateful for anything. Thank-you for your kindness. amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls…

Up next on the stage of #ETFOAM2024 is the Leader of the Official Opposition ⁦Marit Stiles⁩ with the ⁦Ontario NDP⁩ who says our public education system is holding on by a thread 🧵 and it’s unacceptable! #onpoli

This seemed like a ‘no-brainer’ to me and I was surprised to hear this wasn’t a universal practice by school boards. Great work being done at the AGM (we still have room to grow more!).

Home after an 8+ hour day at work on my day off because creating activities for MLL learners takes time and they deserve it. Integration without support is abandonment.

Inclusion without support is abandonment. Schools need resources to support vulnerable students. Teachers need support too.

Loved using ‘sigma’ and ‘busing’ today to make my students squirm.. also loved telling them about 80’s slang and how people of my age totally know what I mean when I use it.. language is a living, breathing thing. Embrace it!

Maybe taking textbooks out of classrooms, workbooks, class novel sets…maybe that’s also having an adverse affect on Ss relationship with books.

It’s important to disconnect from work and take time for yourself! It’s also incredibly difficult when you know you’ve got back to back meetings on a Monday and you have to create all the material yourself.. and your clients are all at different stages.

Stole this idea from somewhere .. give kids 10 sec to complete a clock. Then give them 10 minutes. Ask them to describe each. Use it to talk about effort in school.

I find there are T’s who pat themselves on the back for the few behaviour issues .. until they run into major ones. T’s can go years.. nay decades with little to no behaviour issues.. doesn’t mean they don’t exist, and doesn’t mean it’s the T’s fault when it does happen..

This is important. I wonder what studies might reveal about how scaffolding has impacted the majority of students (k-8) in their upper school years? How many reach Gr.8 without having rigour? Then, how many go to Gr9-12 with an inability to sustain reading/writing at level?

Every Democratic lawmaker should watch when Jon Stewart completely demolished this Republican in a minute and a half. We need THIS energy all day long:

UDL works in higher education, in highly motivated and independent learners, and in more homogeneous settings. In today’s elementary classrooms, UDL doesn’t work well, but is used as an excuse to offer fewer resources to teachers. Change my mind.
