There's a time to call in. But there's also a time to call out. When we shame people who opt for calling out--especially people who have been marginalized--then what we're doing is weaponizing "calling in" to protect the interests of power and injustice.

When somebody says, "We have to meet people where they are," an important question is, WHICH people? Who are you prioritizing? How would our antiracist efforts change if me met people experiencing racism and demanding justice where THEY are, and used that as our starting point?

I'll say it again. We don't need an antiracism more rooted in "kindness." We need a kindness more rooted in antiracism.

The challenge with equity in education is that we are trying to create equitable spaces using the same infrastructure, same number of staff to support student needs, while navigating social media slander, gaslighting and resistance. Those doing the work, take care of yourselves.

Notice how many videos coming out of Palestine are a holding spot for stories in English. Who do they want to bear witness of their story, in the event they will be killed? Why is it in that language?
