#OnThisDay 1984. Bob Clay, Labour MP for Sunderland North, was convicted of obstructing a police officer on a picket line at the privately owned Deerness open-cast mine at Tow Law, co Durham. Clay was fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 court costs.
