Removing logjams, overgrown vegetation & sediment from drains is not only important to reduce the risk of flooding in residential & commercial neighborhoods, but rural areas as well because flooding of agricultural land can destroy farmers’ crops. Lambert Drain in Richmond Twp.

At the Mount Clemens State of the City Address, Mayor Laura Kropp mentioned a great partnership between the city and the Macomb County Public Works Office: the cleanout of the Greiner Drain by the MCPW drain maintenance team. Restoring flow, reducing the risk of flooding.

Our drain maintenance crew handled multiple problems in the Fish Creek Drain in Chesterfield Twp.: placing boulders to restore & armor the bank that had eroded around a weir, then removed fallen trees & muck near 24 Mile Road. Funded through our successful drain match program.

While removing branches and debris from the Fuller Drain near 21 Mile & I-94 in Chesterfield Twp., our crew found this discarded couch. Dumping into streams & other drains is illegal and impedes the flow of stormwater, which harms water quality & increases the risk of flooding.
