We had a great day welcoming staff and students from the University of St Andrews to the south of France. We explored the local habitats and deployed camera traps where we thought there might be animal activity. It will be exciting to see what they record overnight. School of Biology

Day 2 of our field course with University of St Andrews and we’ve collected our first batch of camera trap videos. The students had a successful night, with footage of Beavers, Wild Boar and this fantastic Beech Marten, which has a surprise encounter with a crayfish! School of Biology

While here, students from University of St Andrews designed and carried out an investigation into the feeding and vigilance behaviour of Greater Flamingos in the Camargue. A fantastic day really getting to pay attention to the behaviour of these extraordinary birds. School of Biology

New systematic review and meta-analysis, led by Fish are Friends, on how climate stressors affect fish social behaviour. Inconsistent effects of temperature & CO2; hypoxia can decrease social cohesion. Overall, much more data needed for fully understanding effects. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/br…

Happy to share a preprint of my study on the occurrence of mixed species animal groups with Mike Webster. Would love some thoughts on the manuscript before publishing!

We had a great first day with staff and students from University of St Andrews. We kicked off with habitat tours, an introduction to GPS usage, a drone demonstration, plus camera trap deployment. A pretty packed first day of ecology! School of Biology Mike Webster

Successful thermal imaging last night while out bat detecting with our guests from University of St Andrews. A couple of Coypu, then this Beaver, which cuts a tree branch before carrying it off down the river. School of Biology Mike Webster

We spent an excellent day in the Camargue with staff and students from University of St Andrews. As well as exploring the local habitats, students carried out an investigation on Greater Flamingo feeding behaviour, looking closely at these fascinating birds School of Biology Mike Webster

In the Camargue with the University of St Andrews, we explored the freshwater marshes at the Centre de Découverte du Scamandre. We kept our eyes peeled and were lucky enough to spot both the very cryptic Mediterranean Treefrog and the European Pond Terrapin School of Biology Mike Webster

As part of their field trip with us, we took our guests from the University of St Andrews to the Causse Méjean to learn about the reintroduction of vultures to France and to see them in their natural habitat. We were treated to some very close flybys by Eurasian Griffons! Mike Webster

Students from @univofstandrewscarried out some fascinating projects while here with us, investigating: invertebrate and plant diversity, temporal changes in bat behaviour, flamingo feeding behaviour, and the response of European Fire Bugs to rain. School of Biology Mike Webster
