Clearly they are making a last ditch effort to buy SEC and NCAA championships before salary caps kick in. They might as well issue a formal statement. We are better than you because we are going to outspend you.

Mike Irwin (@mikeirwinptn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You're wrong. There will be a $20.5 million dollar revenue sharing cap combined for all sports. The NIL cap has not been decided but it won't anything like what Texas is spending just on football.

This isn't about jealousy. It's about a very fundamental concept. Most fans reject the idea of buying championships. That's why the NCAA had rules against payments in recruiting. It's why the NFL has a draft and salary caps. Thankfully uncontrolled NIL is going away.

You're never sure if current Razorbacks get the whole Texas thing when they haven't played them. Looks like DVH got through to them. Nothing like breaking out of a funk at the expense of Tex-a$$.

A reminder that baseball is unlike other team sports. Too often it's a head scratcher. LSU, the number 1 team in the nation, just got shut out by Ole Miss and its day three pitchers. BTW the Rebels finished tied for 7th in the SEC. What is the point of Hoover anyway?

I'm sure the 17 people who follow you are happy that you're keeping them informed of how Arkansas' basketball coach spent Memorial Day. Do continue with your obsession over a coach that fans like you ran off. It helps Arkansas fans understand why he wanted to get away from y'all.

No. Under revenue sharing NIL money from collectives (booster payments) will be limited to $600. NIL money from businesses will be set at the value of the actual endorsement. The ability of a school to arrange millions of dollars in NIL payments to recruits is going away.

Investigation and punishment of cheaters will no longer be in the hands of the NCAA. Deloitte, a multinational company, will oversee all of this. There will be specific punishments for specific violations. The arbitrary decisions of the NCAA Committee on Infractions is gone.

Mike Irwin (@mikeirwinptn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Let them sue. This has already been approved by a federal judge, a judge that has more experience in dealing with NIL issues than any other judge in the country. The outright buying of recruits with NIL deals disguised as endorsements is going away.

Mike Irwin (@mikeirwinptn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You are correct. I confused Deloitte's role in determining the actual market value of NIL deals with enforcement of the various rules. However to me it is significant that the NCAA will have no role in the management or enforcement of this new system.

NIL from a business is for an endorsement. Does that business get more from the endorsement than what they are paying? In most cases they lose money and they don't care because they are paying the athlete to play. Deloitte will determine the true value and that's what he'll get.

Mike Irwin (@mikeirwinptn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If an athlete has the kind of national appeal to make a company like Nike money, then yes a larger than normal NIL deal would be approved because it's not limited to a specific school. This type of NIL would be rare.

Mike Irwin (@mikeirwinptn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You are wrong. A federal judge approved this. She would not have approved it if it would not hold up in court. Six months of work went into it. The Supreme Court was consulted. I'm done arguing this. Believe what you want.
