Nearly every YIMBY I know yells, "Yes, AND..." to zoning reform. "Yes, and permitting reform. Yes, and environmental review. Yes, and fewer onerous 'affordable housing' reqs. Yes, and fewer height restrictions. Yes, and transit-oriented planning."

Conservatives have been arguing that while overall job growth may be slowing, native-born employment is soaring. Jed Kolko has a great post today about how that's not true; it's based on a misunderstanding of the BLS data. First, here's his full explanation of the key reason.

I think liberals and others tend to have the very sensible position that we shouldn't tax the inputs into our production processes.

They're still the benchmarks for elite education. Southern schools are benchmarks for a proverbial "college experience." These are not the same.

So many things are downstream from the rule of law. Developers might build more in the previously high crime nhoods because of lower risk to the properties, people, & equipment, which might increase aggregate housing supply if crime were the limiting factor.

Just remember that the people posting this drivel are your elected officials. Utah-based Saints, your "senior Senator" is the essence of what church leaders have been warning against for the last 5+ years. Delivering nothing while intentionally degrading the soul via rage bait.

Not this again. Friends, there are approximately 133,000,000 occupied housing units in the United States. Promoting sensationalized conspiratorial thinking to promote your AI startup is disingenuous.

Having the BYU econ students visit was the highlight of my spring! Having started my research career myself as an RA at the Fed 10+ years ago, I can say that it is one of the best ways I can think of to start a career in econ research.

Per the Urban Institute, the federal government spends about $5 on seniors for every $1 it spends on kids. Between all levels of government, seniors get twice as much.

This is the kind of nonsense that kills the credibility of journalists AND scientists. Stop writing these foolish, counterproductive papers.

When presented with an option to expand state power, and by extension, his own, Trump has never and will never choose the wise path of constraint. It is the antithesis of American ideals and exactly what the founding fathers warned against.

Invariably, when I post this set of stats, answrs include 1) anger, 2) arguments about emotional labor, & 3) women take less leisure (though they spend the difference on self care and sleep). Conversation quickly becomes intractable. Richard is, luckily, much better at comms.
