The most compelling, harrowing book I have read for a long time. I feel a bit like I did after watching The Road. "that was great. I wish I hadn't" Annie Jacobsen I hope more people hear this message.

Achievement unlocked: I actually started a conversation with a stranger in Mandarin while waiting with my kids at a doctors office. It was very, very basic but we managed to make it work 😂

Who is old enough to have grown up passing round copies of the Jolly Roger Cookbook (possibly on floppy disk)? What chapters do you remember?

Taking my kids to Carnuntum and I asked ChatGPT to write a history of the place to read on the journey. It came up with the usual awful prose style that I can't even bring myself to read aloud. Then I had a flash of inspiration and it improved by 1000%. cheers Mike Duncan

Despite this unexpected response, and the hoard of weirdly angry history fans urging Mike to "get his ass" "roast him" "fuck him up" and being told my kids should be in foster care (😂) You should still listen to The History of Rome podcast, it is fantastic. Peace out, X ✌️
