My father, Lewis H. Dennis, would have been 87 today. Words still fail me when I try to express how much I continue to miss him.

Sad to hear that Nichelle Nichols died. I will always remember when she told Spock: "It's not the sun in the sky, but the Son of God," as one of the best delivered lines in Star Trek TOS. RIP gizmodo.com/nichelle-nicho…

Riki Kuklick introduced me to Latour when she published Drawing Things Together. Latour's seminar at UCSD was a sheer delight for this post-doc; his engagement with the materials and students set a very high bar. Bruno, RIP; you will be missed.

Our mother died on 30 November; I am still stunned by the speed with which it all took place. Understanding that I will never see and speak with her again, let alone hug her, is wrenching. legacy.com/us/obituaries/…

My father would have been 89 today; it has been nearly 8 years since his death. I still miss him and continue our daily conversations. Solace comes from believing that he and mom plus their beloved Boston Terriers are together forever traversing the universe.
