Support live music. Go and see bands. On this one four day period you could have seen Radiohead, Suede, Beastie Boys, Catherine Wheel and Ocean Colour Scene in a pretty small club in London.

"...ticking all the boxes from punk, pop, grunge and riot grrl to political feminism, hardcore noise, garage and funk, this vital musical history lesson demonstrates that women were just as savvy about their musical heritage as their male counterparts." 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠! 🙏

I am delighted and honoured to have a chapter in this new book. Academic books are expensive...ask your library to order it if you are interested. I wrote about the influence of The Fall on Ireland's music, and what Mark E said about the Irish! amazon.com/Always-Differe…

Crying shame there is no compilation of Malcolm McLaren's extraordinary musical adventures which produced a series of cross-genre corkers. As his biographer I have no influence over such matters. Here's my tracklisting 1980 to 2007, inc million-sellers + genuine groundbreakers.

A cartoon in The Times by Peter Brookes harked back to the most dated Irish stereotypes. It is shows President Joe Biden dressed as a leprechaun dancing an Irish jig with a pint of Guinness in his hands. irishtimes.com/ireland/2023/0…

Completely shocked by the racist cartoon in the Times of London depicting Joe Biden as a leprechaun swilling Guinness. Thanks to all of my friends in the UK who found it offensive. (1)

I know that the views of Rupert Murdoch (owner of the Times) don't represent the views of many people in Britain. It's worth noting that (A) Biden doesn't drink alcohol, and (B) that Guinness is completely British owned company. Time for a good old Irish boycott. (2)
