Strep causes pharyngitis & rare invasive infections like STSS. Pharyngitis & STSS risen since last year. Rise may attribute to increased respiratory infections post-COVID relaxation. Global trend observed, not limited to Japan. Travel remains unaffected, but basic hygiene advised
