Favorite #SRECon moment -- talking on a panel with @lauralifts, Narayan Desai, @ritasodt, and Theo Schlossnagle about data pipelines. In particular @lauralifts observation that most architecture concerns of synchronous server tiers also apply to pipelines.

To extend the analogy: in simple data pipelines, can think of producers as the LB layer and consumers as service nodes. Pipelines have fundamentally similar load-distribution, cache efficiency, queue-time, and state duration concerns as syncrhonous services.

Words of wisdom on the playground today w/ my kiddos: trying to participate in imaginative games with a bunch of 6 y olds is like trying to get into a pickup game with Jordan, Kareem and Bryant. It's just a whole different league.

Great observations from @baconqurlyq at #Futurestack “The next time you talk to your team about your system, keep in mind that everyone has a different mental model of what that system actually looks like.”

nailing simplicity requires a deep understanding of user personas. k8s is not designed for use by developers, but by operators. a lot of failed attempts at simplicity can be tied back to this misunderstanding. #kubernetes crowdchat.net/s/65op7

An exercise in environmental thinking: threre are 7.5 billion humans on the planet. Next time you’re about to throw away a plastic wrapper, or buy a disposable whatever, just imagine 7.5 people doing that same thing.

Dear Internet, if I sign up for 100% renewable electric svc and then waste a ton of energy, am I helping the environment by creating market demand? 🤔 Kinda serious about this.

The coronavirus stimulus package carved out $135,000,000,000 in tax breaks for millionaires. That's *three times* as much money as was included for emergency housing and food relief. When I say we have socialism for the rich, harsh capitalism for the rest, this is what I mean.
