Brief update to the below from 11 days ago; There's your +AAM switch and there's the Euro high the ECM. I would personally put more weight into the ECM evolution, i.e hotter weather vs the GFS cooler/unsettled pattern. Let's see how things evolve.

The village of Blatten in Switzerland is partly buried by the collapse of a glacier which melted because our greenhouse gas emissions warmed the climate. Another reminder that not investing enough today to reduce emissions means far greater costs for society in the long term.

I’m surprised what’s happened in Switzerland isn’t a bigger story. An entire town wiped off the map by a glacier collapsing, likely as a direct result of our warming climate. This is like something out of a disaster movie.

Here’s a before & after view after the village of Batten in Switzerland was destroyed by a glacial collapse. Fortunately, the town had been evacuated long before disaster struck. Climate change likely had a role in this.

Intense heat across north Africa and Spain will continue into early next week with temperatures some 10-12°C above average. Today temperatures reached 40°C, temperatures often reserved for mid summer rather than late spring.

The amount of anti-climate change nonsense in my notifications at the moment is genuinely baffling. These people are SO angry. So anti-science, so anti-everything. When did people become so lost & wrapped up in their misinformation echo chambers? It’s baffling.

Interesting to look back on this Carbon Brief article about the record sunny UK spring of 2020 from the time and particularly this quote below. "a spring like 2020 is still likely to be considered extreme even by 2100" Fast forward 5 years later and we've had one even sunnier..

Beautiful example of mountain waves across Ireland, Scotland & N England this morning ⛰️ As air bumps against higher ground it causes ridges and troughs in the flow of the air leading to this wavey appearance in clouds.

I absolutely love this from Dan Harris An interactive map showing whether or not it’s hot or not, based on the departure from average hour per hour 📉📈 istheukhotrightnow.com

Earth is the Titanic. Climate change is the iceberg. We’ve already hit it. The ship is sinking. Some are sounding the alarm, others are in denial, clinging to comfort, pretending nothing’s wrong. The “this ship can’t sink” crowd is in for a brutal wake-up call at some point.

It’s been a hot day across France today with 137 monthly records broken. 37°C was recorded in Beggar, the previous record was 34.7°C in 2001. The heat records just keep tumbling.

“Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you’re the one filming it.” – unknown

The sun has fired off a major CME. Point your cameras north after dark this evening and you might get to see the northern lights!
