Hard to believe it's been just over 3 years since Ian and 1 year since Helene, two of the most impactful hurricanes I've ever covered. The stories from these storms (both ours and the people we met along the way) will be with me forever. We're actually working on some exciting

Melissa is looking much healthier this evening and RI is expected over the next couple days. Current plan is to leave very early tomorrow morning and arrive in Montego Bay, Jamaica by mid-day assuming the airport isn’t shut down by then. This could be a truly historic storm for

We’ve officially made it to Jamaica. Now Category 3 Hurricane Melissa looms to our southeast, the satellite evolution over the last 12 hours is unbelievable. This is going to be one for the record books. #Melissa

The morning before landfall, last minute preparations are underway as Category 5 Melissa approaches. All of the kind people we’ve met here seem to be taking this one seriously, hoping this thing weakens some on the final approach. #Melissa

From a crewmember on yesterday's Teal 74 mission into now-Category 5 Hurricane #Melissa. As clear of an eye as you will see in the Atlantic basin.

It’s pretty unfortunate to see the negative light being cast on Jamaica from some others on the platform, all from people who aren’t even here, so I wanted to share some of the positive things we’ve already seen. -We’ve met some incredibly kind and helpful people. The family ran

Finally lost power at our place east of Montego Bay, constant tropical storm forced winds outside but the worst is still quite a ways away. #Melissa

We are safe, thank you to all who have been reaching out. Melissa was by far the scariest hurricane I’ve ever been thru, our front door and one bedroom window came in and we had to shelter in the bathroom. This part of the island is badly damaged but the recovery is already

Here’s a few quick clips of what it was like inside the eyewall of #Melissa where we were at. Only have limited battery and cell service so this will be all I can share for now. LINK - youtu.be/R27gedc9V1s?si… no u Michael Hoines

Last night we saw two waterspouts from a cloud line off the shore of the condo we’ve been staying at. Couldn’t believe it! Afterwards the rain cooled air made for a nice evening sleeping without power.

Current look at Kingston Airport as thousands of people try to get on flights. All of our flights at Montego Bay were cancelled thru the weekend (as expected) so we made the haul down here early this morning. A1 was almost entirely clear from debris and a few gas stations are
