Get ready Mosaic Elementary School, we are gearing up for Read Across America week! Remember to show your spirit as we celebrate our Mustang Readers! 📚❤️

Our focus last week was fluency-the bridge between decoding and comprehension! A great way to practice is through reader’s theater. Today these Mosaic Elementary School 2nd graders put on a show! 🎭📖🥰

Interrupting our regularly scheduled literacy posts to highlight a few members of our amazing Mosaic Elementary School staff! 💙 We were “so extra” today for our Read Across America spirit week! I am proud to work amongst such dedicated professionals! ❤️ FCPS Region 1 Fairfax Schools 🌟

A special thank you to our FCPS Region 1 leadership team for joining us today! Dr. Copeland and Ms. Trout read books to a few of our Mustangs for our Read Across America celebration. We appreciate them for spending time with us Mosaic Elementary School! 📚❤️

This group is full of smiles!! Why? Well, they work very hard and hard work pays off. We were also playing a game and…it’s Friday! 😜 So proud of their positive attitudes and eager to learn energy. ❤️😃Mosaic Elementary School FCPS Region 1

These Mosaic Elementary School 3rd graders read different versions of Cinderella. While the elements of a fairy tale were the same, the details were different, depending on the culture. But in case you are wondering…Yeh-Shen from China and Adelita from Mexico lived happily ever after! 🥰

We are very excited to add two High Impact Tutors to our Mosaic Elementary School Literacy Team! Their work will support many of our Mustangs to ensure they have what they need to be skillful readers. Thank you Fairfax Schools 🌟 for launching this program! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 FCPS Region 1

Have you heard The Three Little Pigs told from the perspective of the wolf? If not, it’s a must read! Poor guy had a cold. He didn’t intentionally blow down their houses…he just had to sneeze!! These Mosaic Elementary School 4th graders worked in groups to think critically about perspective!

After reading an example of functional text, this Mosaic Elementary School student asked if we could try the experiment. My answer-absolutely! We had fun bringing this science experiment text to life. FCPS Region 1 👨🏽🔬 😲

Since Mosaic Elementary School is in the middle of "Extreme School Makeover," we have many dull temporary walls. A few creative 4th graders wrote a persuasive letter to Dr. Aste requesting to paint them. They must have convinced her to say YES! Such a fun project to end the 3rd quarter.❤️ 🎨🖌

ICYMI-Our amazing Mosaic Elementary School math team hosted a Math Carnival last night. It was a grand event filled with fun games, yummy concessions and BIG smiles! 😃 My favorite part was this wall of math related books! Super cool “2 for 1” learning opportunity! 🔢➕📚🟰❤️FCPS Region 1

These Mosaic Elementary School 4th graders started the Functional Text Unit. We used our very own Math Carnival flier for practice! 😃 After discussing the purpose and key components, we answered questions posted around the room. Bonus: we shared all the fun we had at the carnival! 🎟️🍿🍕🎪

Let’s hear it for these Mosaic Elementary School students for completing Family Reading BINGO! While prizes are fun, the real winning comes from strengthening literacy skills. Thank you Virginia PTA for making the board and for encouraging students across the state to read, read, READ! ❤️📚❤️

We wrapped up this week with various activities like monitoring our fluency, sequencing events from a story and reviewing CVC words with our UF Literacy Institute Roll & Read! 🎲 😃 Another Fun Friday in the books! 😜Mosaic Elementary School FCPS Region 1

We had another great year of our Bookworms Book Club! Our Mosaic Elementary School students enjoyed many book discussions with their Oakton High School mentors. This afternoon we celebrated all the fun we’ve had this year! I am proud of these Mustangs and their love of reading! 📚🐛❤️ FCPS Region 1

What a blast!! Our annual Mosaic Elementary School Einstein Night was a huge success! Thanks to all the participants and their families as well as all the Mustangs who came to support their peers! Of course, a big round of applause goes to Peyton Avery for making it all happen!🔭🥼🧪

Miss Bonkers from Hooray for Diffendoofer Day has the right message. She knows her students will do well on ANY test because she’s taught them how to think! ❤️ Our Mosaic Elementary School students have all they need to do well on the SOLs so today we celebrated with some fun review tasks! 😜

Congratulations to these Mosaic Elementary School Mustangs and their teachers for impressive scores on the final WordMasters Challenge test. WM gives our students an opportunity to work with difficult vocabulary to solve analogies. Way to go!! 🥇❤️

We wrapped up this week with a fun game of Battleship-with a spelling twist! There are so many super fun ways to practice and review literacy skills! I am lucky to be able to support such great Mosaic Elementary School students each day! ☺️❤️
