My annual reminder that NIH and NSF still prevent international students from applying for doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships. I'm glad you're here and I know you've sacrificed a lot to be here. We're proud of you!

For academics, the weekends can be a GREAT time to get ahead. After 10+ years in the academy, this is what I have learned! This is what I would tell the first year grad school version of myself on how to spend the weekends! This would have helped me A TON! ⬇️

We did it! We finished the AACR 5K run in 37 minutes and felt energized for the day! The view of the sea throughout the run was absolutely scenic! I’m so glad we did this! #AACR24

How fitting it was to merge my love for running with my dedication to cancer research at AACR Foundation’s Run for Research! It was profoundly meaningful as we all raised significant funds for research, yet sobering to see so many run in honor of their lost loved ones. 🏃🏻‍♀️🌴🔬

Immense gratitude for the AACR Scholar-In-Training Award which supports my attendance at this year’s meeting, where I’ve learned, gained fresh perspectives, made invaluable connections and learned some more! Honored to represent the Miller/ Felices lab here in San Diego! 👩🏻‍🔬🌴🧪

UPDATE: Despite barely peering over the podium (I swear I was on my tippy-toes 😂), it felt so rewarding to be able to share some of our exciting science with the audience at AACR! Thank you David S. Hong MD and Tanaya Shree for facilitating the session so wonderfully. ✨

Cryopreservation protocols optimized for T cells kill ~75% of NK cells w/in 24 h of thaw due to leakage of GzmB from vesicles. This is prevented by IL15/IL-18 pretreatment to ⬆️antiapoptotic genes & deplete gzmB containing granules [Berjis & Sheppard] nature.com/articles/s4146…
