“My daughter was so inspired after reading it....” Reviews from parents always remind me that the home's library is just as important as the school's library. Have You Thanked a Musician Today? continues to spark connections and I'm grateful for that! Tag an parent! #BookReview

We lost a GIANT yall! A Grand Master Teacher! So much of what I do is rooted in what I learned from his teachings. Thank you, Dr. Juwanza Kunjufu for your relentless and unapologetical pursuit of excellence for Black children. 🙏🏾❤️🖤💚💪🏾

When the intention is purposeful and full of love, you don’t have to be in the room to make it felt. Malvern Elementary, thank you for reminding me that even virtually, this work can still move hearts and open minds. #VirtualAuthorVisit #PurposeDrivenLiteracy #AuthorLife

She had a secret handshake. I earned the right to learn it. This is what connection looks like. Because sometimes, the most unforgettable moments of an author visit… have nothing to do with books at all. #ilovemygig #authorlife #authorcommunity #authorvisits

Meet Buddy Bolden. A cornet player from New Orleans. They say when he played, you could hear his horn for miles. He's been called the "first man of jazz" despite having never recorded. His influence can be heard in Jazz greats like Louis Armstrong. #blackmusicmonth

It’s officially Black Music Month yall! Black musicians have shaped the soundtracks of our lives—creating the theme music for our resistance, our existence, and our joy. This month, we give thanks to the artists who have moved us. #BlackMusicMonth #MusicEducation #BIPOCBooks

Happy Black Music Month! Today we honor Mr. Pee Wee Ellis, the co-creator of Funk Music! Though James Brown is known as the "Godfather of Funk", it was Pee Wee Ellis who helped him craft the sound. He co-wrote hits like "Cold Sweat" and "Say it Loud-I'm Black and I'm Proud"!
