The problem with all the comparisons to the “golden age” of the 1950s is that the state of the world outside the US was very different at that time. Most of it was still in ruins after World War II. The global landscape is now completely different.

The Witcher series would have benefited greatly from showing a map of the Continent every once in a while. Otherwise, it’s nearly impossible to follow unless you’ve read the books or played the video game before.
