Scala 3 is a huge achievement. So much work has gone into this, and the result is, in my opinion, one of the best new programming languages out there. Congratulations to all the contributors!

I think this a common misconception with promises in JS. Two promises that are started together are concurrent, but they are not parallel. This is why using a synchronous API instead of an asynchronous one isn't necessarily a problem for performance.
