“They’re not there when a person is going to kill someone.” Anti-violence campaigner Patsy McKie from @MavOffice in #Hulme says deploying more officers won’t stop knife crime in cities like #Manchester. It’s after a 17yo was fatally stabbed in #HaleBarns over the weekend...

I am 24 year old young change-maker from Manchester UK. I currently work for Young Manchester as a project coordinator on a youth engagement project. I also volunteer with Mothers Against Violence which is a black-led anti-violence charity ran by volunteer/victims of violence for the community. (2)

Heartbreaking news coming out of South Manchester. We need real change, we need action and we need investment. Within these areas are communities, communities that are vibrant and diverse but gripped by violent crime and the fear of it.

Very sad to announce the passing of the amazing Patsy Mckie. She was a pioneer, leader and above all else a mother with a mission. Please bear with us Mothers Against Violence as we remember our founder and continue operations. Patricia ‘Patsy’ McKie 1947-2025

Very sad news. Patsy was an outstanding community activist, founder of Mothers Against Violence and a firm advocate for a better Manchester. Her legacy will live on through Mothers Against Violence - and she will be sorely missed by those who knew her.
