Today is the 12th anniversary of Happyfeed’s App Store launch. It’s a counterexample to the “I made this in 24 hours” and “fastest app to hit X metric in Y time” slop filling the space. You don’t work on something this long unless you truly love doing it. I still write daily

Problem is that no one has figured out the right incentives. These all seem great but iMessage is 90% of the way there. Plus getting video sharing, specifically, is tough and hard to ever be on-par as a new app. What’s the NEW thing that attracts people and gets them to stay?
