From what I can see he's getting plenty of interest from the Poms. People amazed by a racing pub where you can watch the race & have a bet. Don't be surprised we get a heap more English to the Melbourne spring carnival next year. All good stuff. Promotion is everything.

Willo is a legend. This is what we need. Put a party on for one day & the boozers will just come for a drink that day once a year. Engage youth with the horses, trainers & jocks & they'll come back for a lifetime. Never forgot the day I met Beadman just before he first retired.

The same people who cry for a 2000m Victoria Derby lament how terrible our stayers are or how shameful it is that most staying races are won by slug imports with no form over there. Wish I had a 3yo capable of running in a Vic Derby. You best believe it would be running if I did.

H'bury R2 Casserousse $2.5 & R4 Margin Call $2.6 are both second faves that I can easily find as fave. Casserousse is Godolphin first start for Pride. If it doesn't charge through the bridal F600m it should win. Margin Call ran some great late sections in debut win. Keen on both.

Fancy robbing Rosehill of the Golden Eagle to run it on this Randwick farce. Maybe the crowd will tear the joint down after the last like they did last week.

What's the general vibe in work offices re the Cup this year? Hoping it's on the way back after hitting an all-time low of interest, let alone lunches and sweeps, over the last few years.

🥇 Al Riffa Keen, only concern is how much ground he has to make up. If Zahra creeps up on them from the 1200m & is in striking distance top of the straight I think he wins. 🥈 Valiant King 🥉 Half Yours Trifecta: 1st 1, 24, 14 / 1, 24, 14, 21, 6 Good luck & good punting!

Outstanding ride, Ethan Brown. Ensured he broke better today, took up a lovely spot and forced the issue early to get him into the clear. Horse worth following.

Best Melbourne Cup ride I can remember since Glen Boss on Makybe Diva. Incredible courage from horse & Jamie to take those two gaps at the speed they were moving.

For as long as these things keep happening in Aus racing, we'll be much better for it. When the time comes that the mega owners have all the best horses trained by the mega trainers, it will be the end of racing as we know it. A great story of small breeders having a go.
